As the Premier League gathers steam, the stars return to action in Liverpool on Thursday evening. Glen Durrant remains top of the pile, but could slip out of the play off’s with a loss at the Echo Arena.

 

Durrant goes into his clash with Daryl Gurney as slight favourite, but after a good run in Minehead over the weekend, ‘SuperChin’ will be hoping to continue his momentum in Merseyside.

 

This weeks challenger Stephen Bunting faces Rob Cross in a rematch of the UK Open last 16 clash from Saturday evening. Cross came away a 10-9 victor on that occasion, but with the home crowd behind him, Bunting may well go one leg better.

 

Recently crowned UK Open champion Michael van Gerwen faces Gerwyn Price in a rematch from Sunday evening’s final. The two have had a heated rivalry over the past six months, with the Welshman looking for redemption in Liverpool.

 

Gary Anderson will be looking to get back on track against this season’s surprise package, Nathan Aspinall. ‘The Asp’ has started strongly, winning three of his five matches, and rightly goes into the match as favourite.

 

Following his nine-darter two weeks ago in Dublin, Michael Smith could go top of the league with a win over reigning World Champion Peter Wright. Wright is yet to hit the heights of his incredible World Championship run in the Premier league, will this be the match that kick-starts his campaign.

Premier League Darts returns for night three in Cardiff as the darting titans take to a packed out Motorpoint Arena in the Welsh capital.

 

Michael van Gerwen is the only player to take maximum points after two games with Daryl Gurney the only player yet to register a point.

 

 

‘The Green Machine’ is still priced as overwhelming favourite for the tournament and that reflects the odds for his night three match against Nathan Aspinall.

 

World Champion Peter Wright has dropped to 6/1 after a draw with Gary Anderson in Nottingham, but will be looking to get back on the winning track on Thursday evening.

 

Our pick of the week is high flying Michael Smith against Welsh Challenger, Jonny ‘The Ferret’ Clayton. Smith was averaging 120 midway through his match with Gerwyn Price last week, but failed to make it count.

 

Against the less experienced Clayton, Smith will be hoping to get that first win on the board and continue his excellent start to the PDC season.

 

Elsewhere, Glen Durrant is heavily priced at 15/8 against Gary Anderson. Both players currently sit on three points after two games with Anderson showing glimpses of his old self.

 

Durrant drew with darting Golden Girl Fallon Sherrock last week, but after a strong start with have belief he can beat the former Premier League and World Champion.

Over the years there have been hundreds of darts players to switch from the BDO to the PDC system, with a minority entering themselves directly into the premiere darting arena through the challenge tour. Today we going to look at those players that enjoyed successful debut years in the PDC. Whether it was a sensational run in major events of consistency on the ProTour.

It was a little difficult to define debut year with players competing in the UK Open and Grand Slam of Darts, so for the purpose of this list, it’s a players first full year on the tour. So without further ado, here are seven of the best to enjoy successful debut years in the PDC.

The BDO World Trophy returns to Eurosport this Friday as one of the British Darts Organisations’ premiere events comes to the King George’s Hall in Blackburn.

A field of 32 men and 16 women will take the Lancashire stage over three days of action as the champion are crowned on Sunday evening.

Gerwyn Price is known as one of the most explosive players in the sport, exciting crowds up and down the country. After a duo of incidents at the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts Price was fined a record high of £21,500 for counts of Gamesmanship and Bringing the sport into disrepute.
