Brendan Dolan reflected on his return to PDC winning circle following his victory over Jermaine Wattimena on Sunday afternoon. The Northern Irishman hadn’t won a PDC event since his Player Championship triumphs in 2015. Four years on and the ‘History Maker’ is surging back into the top 32.

Following his victory over Wattimena, Dolan said: “I just can’t believe it. It’s brilliant, absolutely brilliant,

“I’ve worked so hard and I haven’t got results out of it. Yesterday, the way I played was unbelievably bad and I sent my wife a text. She told me to wise up.

“I used to always say that if I get past the first round then I’m dangerous. I’ve tried really hard this last 18 months and not got the results, but I’ve performed really well.

“I think I’ve got the luck on the day today and it’s just great to get a win.”

Dolan’s big breakthrough came in 2012 as he made two semi-final appearances in televised tournaments, nailing the nine-darter at the World Grand Prix.

He was a quarter-finalist at the World Championships in 2019, but failed to push on until his victory over the weekend.
